Stephen - Building Surveyor
Among the 36 years of experience as a building surveyor, when asked what the perks of his job as a Council building surveyor are, Stephen is certain it’s working with a diverse bunch of professionals, meeting new people every day and—when opportunity strikes—enjoying the odd water taxi ride on Pittwater to visit construction sites in our more remote locations.
“I live on the Northern Beaches and have enjoyed working here a number of times over my working life. What I love the most about this Council and working among our great community is the sense of comradery.
Since starting his career as a carpenter and joiner and moving into building surveying, Stephen has always had an interest in the building industry. He’s seen a lot of growth and change over the years.
“Every day I get to interact with every-day people as well as engineers, architects and builders to make sure that both commercial and residential buildings are safe and either liveable or fit-for-purpose.
“While people in the industry know what I do, many residents get confused with my title, so I usually tell them I’m a building inspector.”
