In December last year, a number of Newport Village businesses on Barrenjoey Road were seriously damaged in a building fire.  

Whilst it takes time to recover and rebuild, Newport Business Chamber and Council have worked in partnership, to install an artistic decal on the building site’s hoardings to inspire locals to shop in Newport Village.

The decal includes artwork from an original mural painted on Robertson Road, Newport featuring endangered Swift Parrots by artist Mandy Schoene-Salter (Man.de). 

The decal’s vibrant colours, locally recognised artwork and messaging aims to inspire and motivate residents to shop locally and support Newport businesses, now more than ever before.

The hoarding and decal will remain in place as the restoration works of Newport Village Shopping Centre continues.
