The people of the world have spoken: Manly is Australia’s number 1 best beach and ranked number 7 in the world. 

TripAdvisor today released its 2024 Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Beaches list which "celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel. It’s awarded to those who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the TripAdvisor community over a 12-month period. Out of our 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieve this milestone."

No small accolade for our local beach which came in just behind the likes of Portugal’s Praia da Falésia, Spain’s Lan Concha and Anse Lazio in the Seychelles. 

Trip Advisor’s description sets the scene claiming “Manly Beach is at the center of everything—literally. Just a quick ride from the Sydney CBD, it's surrounded by shops, cafes, and more."

Shelley Beach also made it in the top 20 Australian beaches, beating Coogee Beach, Perth's Scarborough Beach and Byron Bay.

Who could ask for more: It was wonderful weather, it probably always is. The trip across to Manly was exciting across the bay in one of the traditional ferries even though quite short. So many positives: We have travelled the world extensively and seen a lot of beaches. So many positives with fine clean sand kept clean and tidy by the local Council, no rocks and just pure golden sand, patrolled by lifesavers with flags indicating where to swim safely with shops, cafes and restaurants on the opposite side of the streets. Manly has it all! For both exiting Sydney Harbour & entering Sydney Harbour on returning from Manly, the trip on the boat is worth it alone for the fantastic views.! Manly has a delightful beach and fashionable shops that entice you in. Dermot O. Dec 2023.

Great atmosphere: The beach is very nice, spacious with very fine sand. Even in winter there are people on it. The surrounding area is also very interesting and access is very easy by ferry from the CBD. Ogi0, Aug 2023
