If you overstay your parking on the Northern Beaches, or park illegally, you may not be greeted by a printed docket on your windshield.
Before you get too excited, you’ve still been booked! Vehicle details and photos of the offence have been sent to Revenue NSW through their new Print and Post service.
Following the successful roll-out of Print and Post in other local government areas, Northern Beaches Council is making the switch to this smarter and more sustainable service.
The new service goes live on Monday 4 March.
Why are we doing this?
Around 38 councils across the state are currently using the Print and Post service with positive outcomes.
Print and Post provides a streamlined approach to issuing penalty notices. It’s smarter and more sustainable, and actually gives recipients more information about the offence and the options available to pay the fine or dispute the offence.
Print and Post also offers a significant cost saving because it cuts out administrative costs, helping your rates to go further.
Revenue NSW introduced the system in response to a number of issues with the old docket system including:
- recipients being confused by the docket style fines and the limited information provided
- fines being removed, leaving people unaware of the fine until they receive a reminder notice, with less time to act.
How does it work?
Council officers continue to carry out their usual parking patrols.
Council officers capture details of the offence and any relevant images onto their device. The details and images are uploaded onto the server.
Revenue NSW retrieves the vehicle owner’s details, prints and posts the fine on Revenue NSW’s letterhead on behalf of Council.
Within 2-3 days, the customer receives the notice via email (or post) and can view any images associated with the fine on the myPenalty page on the Revenue NSW website.
