Council staff blitzed local building sites on Thursday 20 March as part of the ‘Get the Site Right’ education campaign.
The 'Get the Site Right' campaign seeks to protect the environment by highlighting the importance of securing building materials and educating site managers on best-practice erosion and sediment controls to prevent pollution.
Council has participated in the Get the Site Right campaign since 2019. Of the 71 sites visited this year, 67% had their sites set up correctly – an increase of 10% from the last blitz. While some warnings were issued only one had a significant issue that Council will be following up.
In addition to the Get the Site Right campaign, Council conducts regular inspections of building sites and responds to community concerns to ensure our bushland and waterways remain clean and healthy.
The 'Get the Site Right' campaign is a joint initiative involving councils across Sydney and parts of NSW, including Northern Beaches Council.
Community members are encouraged to report pollution incidents by contacting Northern Beaches Council on 1300 434 434 or by calling the Environment Line on 131 555.
