The countdown to the announcement of winners of the 2023 Environmental Art & Design Prize, and exhibition of finalists, has begun.
Now in its third year, the Environmental Art & Design Prize brings together a community of creatives to highlight our environmental concerns and hopes across the nation.
This year’s 215 works shortlisted works shine a light on renewal, regeneration, and our shared human experience, and are by a broad range of local, regional, and national artists. The works selected present fresh perspectives on our global climate crisis and sustainable life on earth.
Open to painting, photography, digital media, ceramics, functional and wearable design, and more, the Environmental Art & Design Prize is an annual non-acquisitive award with nine categories and a prize pool of $42,000.
An external judging panel of leading creative practitioners and thinkers will judge the works, and includes independent Indigenous curator, consultant and artist, Emily McDaniel, contemporary multi-disciplinary artist Caroline Rothwell and Australian industrial designer Adam Goodrum.
The winners will be announced on Thursday 3 August at 6:30pm at Manly Art Gallery & Museum. The exhibition opens to the public on from 4 - 27 August (Tue-Sun, 10am-5pm) at Manly Art Gallery & Museum, Curl Curl Creative Space and Mona Vale Creative Space Gallery. Entry is free.
