Calling all photographers, swimmers, snorkellers and divers to get creative by entering this year’s Underwater Photography Competition as part of our Ocean Festival.
With a prize pool of $4,000, participants are invited to submit their underwater images from one of our 5 aquatic reserves on the Northern Beaches. The competition celebrates all skill levels and is open to both amateur and professional photographers.
Our oceans also play a critical role, providing 50% of the oxygen we breathe while absorbing 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions. This competition is about celebrating this precious underwater environment and the incredible marine life found there.
Entrants are asked to respond to the eight categories, with this year’s theme ‘Life Below Water’.
Young people aged 12 to 17 years are also encouraged to enter the competition and share their fascination with the underwater world. This winner will be recognised as the Underwater Youth Photographer of the Year 2024.
Videographers also get a chance to participate with a reels category (15 - 30 secs) for both youth (12-17 years) and adults (18+ years).
Entries for all categories open on Friday 23 August and close 11:59 pm on Sunday 15 September.
The People’s Choice Award will be available online for voting from 11 October - 3 November.
