Keeping cool can be costly in summer, but small changes can add up to bring down both your energy use and bills.
Follow these 6 tips to save money and play your part in reducing emissions.
Keep rooms cool
- Keep curtains and blinds closed during the day or add external shading to reduce heat from direct sunlight.
- Use your fan before turning on your air conditioner.
- If using an air conditioner, set it between 23 to 26 degrees.
- Open windows at night to let the heat escape and let cool breezes in when the temperature drops.
Reduce or avoid appliance use
- Avoid turning on your oven during the hottest part of the day.
- Air-dry your clothes instead of using the dryer.
