Drift downstream at Curl Curl Creative Space this month, with a new exhibition exploring theme of water and climate change.
MASS is a group exhibition curated by Daniel Press as part of Northern Beaches Council’s Emerging Curator Program. It is on display at Curl Curl Creative Space from Wednesday 18 to Saturday 28 September.
It reflects on the environment and history of Curl Curl, with water being a dominant theme.
The works are thoughtfully displayed in stages, from the suburban entanglements at Greendale Creek to the intertidal zone of Curl Curl lagoon and the ocean, allowing viewers to drift through the exhibition.
Press is a sculptor and curator known for his innovative approaches to sculpture and commitment to uncovering emerging trends in Australian contemporary art. His other recent exhibitions include MATERIALITY (2023), at DRAW Space in Newtown and MATTER (2024) at Woollahra Gallery. MASS is the final instalment in the trilogy.
Now in its second year, the Emerging Curator Program provides early career curators with professional mentoring, a platform to develop their practice and opportunities to expand their networks.
The resulting exhibition is accompanied by a public program of events, including an artist talks and workshops.
