Northern Beaches Council enthusiastically supports the incredible value of early education in local community.

Now in its seventh year, Early Learning Matters Week, happening nationally from 5 – 9 August 2024, is a reminder of the transformative power of play-based education in shaping confident, enthusiastic learners and laying the foundation for lifelong well-being and achievement.

Across the Early Learning Matters Week children will have the opportunity to involve themselves in a range of educational activities including a morning tea using ingredients grown in the Children’s Centre own garden; an excursion to collect coffee grinds from local café for a sustainability project and a timely visit from a former rowing Olympian to talk about the effort and excitement of being at the Olympics.

Council offers a range of children's services in early learning from pre-school programs and long day care to family day care and occasional, vacation care. There are 9 children’s education centres across the Northern Beaches, caring for over 900 local children aged 0-6 years. Each providing safe, stimulating and interactive learning environments for children and a supportive space for their families.

We are so proud of our passionate and hard-working educators who understand how crucial the early years of a child’s life impact their ability to learn.

This passion and dedication were recently recognised by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) National Quality Standards (NQS) with impressive rating results for the Northern Beaches.

Belrose Children’s Centre has been recognised for going above and beyond in its service to local families, receiving the highest honour in the national rating scheme, ‘Excellent’. Additionally, 6 Council children’s services were recognised for their outstanding service, each being rated as ‘Exceeding’ the National Quality Standard (NQS).
