Council is seeking feedback from the community on a place plan known as My Place: Manly which offers a clear vision and strategy to address the current and future needs of the Manly centre.
The plan aims to create enjoyable, vibrant, safe, inclusive, and sustainable places for the community to live, work and visit and is not proposing any intensification of more development.
The place plan was developed in collaboration with the Project Working Group with representatives from the Manly Business Chamber, Youth Advisory Group, local resident associations, local businesses and special interest groups.
This consultation formed the basis of the plan and its actions to be implemented across the next 10 to 15 years.
Four key places have been identified as the focus for activities and activations including The Corso, Sydney Road, Pittwater Road and several laneways (Market Place, Rialto Lane, Henrietta Lane, Central Avenue and Short Street Plaza).
The place plan seeks to leverage Manly's appeal as a major tourist destination and night-time economic centre while balancing the needs of all stakeholders to deliver safe, diverse and creative activities that cater for all demographics.
The Plan ensures a consistent approach to planning for the Manly centre as set out in Council’s Community Strategic Plan Shape 2028 and the Local Strategic Planning Statement, Towards 2040.
Community engagement for the plan opens early October.
