This week is National Child Protection Week (Sunday 4 – Saturday 10 September) and this year’s theme shines a light on children growing up in safe and supportive environments.
As a child safe organisation, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people who use our facilities and services.
That’s why we are calling on the community to work with us to help ensure children and young people are safe.
If you’re visiting one of our facilities like our libraries or aquatic centres, or even one of our events, speak up if you see a child or young person who is at risk of harm or abuse.
Child safety is everybody’s business and it’s important to know what to do:
- If you think a child or young person is at risk of abuse or neglect, report your concern to a Northern Beaches Council staff member or the Child Protection Helpline on 132 111.
- If a child or young person is in immediate danger of harm or abuse, contact the police immediately by calling 000.
