Part of the charm of the Northern Beaches lies in its vibrant business community, unique shops, and bustling local scene, all contributing to what makes it truly special.
But when we take our spending elsewhere, we risk jeopardising our thriving business centres and local economy.
Right now, Northern Beaches locals currently spend over $3.6 billion outside of our area - $238 million was spent last year in Chatswood and a whopping $390 million in Sydney CBD. Over $6 billion was spent online1.
We all have the power to bring some of this back to the Beaches! Supporting local businesses means keeping our dollars circulating in our own community, where it can strengthen our local economy through the generation of local jobs and helping to grow our start-ups.
So, next time you shop online, search “near me” for a local provider and share the shopping love locally.
4 simple ways to show your support
- Shop local
- Leave a Google review
- Share and like on socials
- And recommend to friends and family.
Let's stick together and keep the Northern Beaches thriving – one local purchase at a time!
Today, Council launches its Go local to grow local campaign where we’ll be sharing stories of fantastic local businesses and encouraging locals to shop locally first. You’ll also see green stickers popping up in shop windows and on social media from local businesses reminding you to support our Northern Beaches businesses.
If you’re a local business that would like to request a Go local to grow local window sticker or social media resource, visit our campaign webpage.
