Be inspired by last year’s joint winner Danes Specialty Coffee who demonstrated that they were going ‘above and beyond’ in terms of sustainability.
Paul Jackson, Managing Director from the Brookvale-based company said that for over 25 years they had been globally sourcing sustainable and ethical coffees.
“Our aim is to embed sustainability throughout our procurement and production process.”
Their initiatives include:
- Installing solar – resulting in a reduction of over 83 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere in the past two years, which is the equivalent of over 1600 trees planted.
- All packaging is reusable and recyclable, including takeaway coffee cups that are commercially compostable.
- Working with the EPA ‘Bin Trim’ program and audited to recycle 98% of potential waste including:
- all paper, cardboard and plastic packaging
- coffee bags with redcycle
- takeaway coffee cups with simply cups at our Brookvale drive-in coffee van
- coffee chaff, grinds and hessian sacks at local gardens.
- Carbon-offsetting deliveries where possible.
