Artist Impression of playground

Monday, 18 July 2022

Just imagine a new playground, public artworks, lookouts, new grassed picnic areas plus more…. well it can be a reality with Council seeking feedback from the community on the proposal.

The proposal to invigorate Freshwater Beach has been some time in the making with a masterplan adopted by Council in 2018.

Concept designs have just been released and the community is being asked to comment on the designs so renewal works can be a step closer to being implemented.

The proposal includes:

  • a new playground
  • a lookout with terraced seating at the beach end of Oceanview Road
  • designated seating areas
  • grassed picnic areas with shelters, picnic tables, and electrical BBQ’s
  • new ramps and footpaths to improve accessibility.

Also, stay tuned for more information about a proposed boardwalk extension linking McKillop Park with the boardwalk to South Curl Curl to be installed next year as well as new public artworks that will be integrated into the coastal landscape as part of the Public Art project and improvements to the Coast Walk.

For more information on the project visit our website and leave your feedback by 14 August. This feedback will be used to refine the designs and construction is anticipated to commence in Autumn 2023.
