If you’re a Northern Beaches’ artist looking for support while you get creative, explore and connect with local culture, please consider applying for the Northern Beaches Council’s 2018 Artist Residency programs which are now open.
Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the residencies formed part of Council’s ongoing commitment to providing cultural development opportunities for our local artists.
“By supporting the vision and passion of our many local and talented artists, we help to enrich the cultural vibrancy of the Northern Beaches.
“Our residency programs connect artists with their local environment, resulting in works that celebrate and embody the unique area we live in,” Mayor Regan said.
Northern Beaches Council is offering three artist residencies in partnership with local creative organisations:
A six-month residency and $2,000 grant to a mid-career local artist with Eramboo Artist Environment
Two nine-month residencies for new or emerging local artists, with $3,000 grants available to each, at Kimbriki Resource Recovery Centre
Successful applicants will also receive mentoring support from the local creative community as they create and exhibit their work.
Former Kimbriki resident artist Leesa Knights described the experience as one that profoundly impacted her artistic development.
“This residency takes you out of your comfort zone. It allows you to escape from the way that you usually see and respond to things,” Ms Knights said.
Go to residencies for more information or to apply. Applications are open until 10 December.
