The foreshore and pedestrian areas at Careel Bay and Clareville will be upgraded and made safer by Northern Beaches Council in partnership with the NSW Government thanks to a one million dollar grant.

And work on the Palm Beach (South) Landscape Masterplan will get underway this year thanks to the funding injection.

Council Administrator Dick Persson AM and Pittwater MP Rob Stokes made the announcement.

“I am very pleased that with the strong voice of the Northern Beaches Council and the drive of Minister Stokes the NSW Government has agreed to work with us to benefit the local community,” Mr Persson said.

“Council has completed planning for the southern end of Palm Beach and this funding means work can get underway to enhance and improve the access and amenity of this iconic location.”

The upgrade at Careel Bay will expand on work undertaken in 2015, with the introduction of additional pedestrian infrastructure, landscaping and foreshore stability improvements.

“The community has indicated that it is very keen to see stage two of this project get underway and I am delighted that the assistance of the NSW Government will allow us to do that now,” Mr Persson said.

At Clareville, the footpath will be extended to Taylors Point to complement new increased public transport services.

“The community has identified a missing link in the stage one works on Hudson Parade completed in 2014. Council sought funding from the NSW Government to bring this project forward and I am very pleased Council will now be able to complete the upgrade of the section alongside Hudson Parade between Clareville Beach and Taylors Point,” Mr Persson said.
