Northern Beaches Council has adopted the North Narrabeen Reserve Plan of Management 2024 (PoM) which proposes upgrades and enhancements for this important Reserve.

The public exhibition period resulted in a majority of positive responses. After reviewing the submissions, suggested minor changes were incorporated into the PoM.

The PoM proposes a series of improvements to the Reserve to support existing users, including consideration of options for an all-weather sportsfield, accessible amenities, additional landscaping and parking plus lighting for some sportsfields.

The works will be scheduled across a 10-year period subject to funding, environmental assessments and planning approvals.

Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said the Reserve is a popular and important space for sports and recreation.

“After extensive community consultation, a comprehensive Plan of Management was drafted,” Mayor Heins said.

“It was good to see so many who took the time to submit their suggestions and voiced their support during the Your Say period.

“With such an active sporting community, the proposed improvements to North Narrabeen Reserve will be a bonus and see more people using the extended facilities.

“Council is committed increasing playing time for our avid sports users, and the Plan of Management puts forward plans to consider options for all weather upgrades to Field 2 to help with that challenge.

“The advantage of the Reserve is its ability to offer a multitude of options for the local community and visitors alike. It’s home to the popular Friday farmers markets and used extensively for organised sport, recreation and community events.  It’s also a place for people to exercise, relax and explore.”

The PoM replaces the previous North Narrabeen Reserve Plan of Management which has been in place for around 20 years.

Through the Let’s Play! – Northern Beaches Open Space and Outdoor Recreation Strategy and Action Plan 2022 and the Northern Beaches Sportsgrounds Strategy 2017, Council continues to improve the open spaces and outdoor recreation and sporting facilities across the Northern Beaches.
