Proficiency in writing an eye-catching application for a funding grant or an exhibition submission is a valuable skill for an artist.

As competition for limited arts funding, for example, can be intense, it is important to present yourself in the best light.

For this reason, it is worth checking out Northern Beaches Council’s next Creative Toolkit workshop on 6 June, 6 to 8pm entitled ‘Writing a great application: Unlock your next opportunity’.

The workshop is part of a series of five free Creative Toolkit workshops between April and December designed to support the professional development of local artists and makers.

It will be presented by Penelope Benton, General Manager National Association of Visual Arts (NAVA).

Northern Beaches Acting General Manager Planning, Place & Community Melissa Messina said the program was designed to nurture the development of arts in the area by helping artisans take the next step in selling their products to the public.

“These workshops are designed in tandem with our Creative Made markets, which have proven to be a great platform for artisans as well as wonderful community events.

“Smaller programs like this which support our local artists and arts hubs are an important complement to larger ongoing projects including the development of a new creative art space and a public art trail,” Ms Messina said.

The free workshops, offering a range of valuable marketing and merchandising advice, will be held at the Creative Space in North Curl Curl and bookings are essential at northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au
