Over 160 of the world’s best women’s and men’s surfers will descend on Manly Beach this month for the World Surf League (WSL) Sydney Surf Pro Challenger Series.
Proudly sponsored by Northern Beaches Council, the Sydney Surf Pro brings professional surfers from across Australia and the world to Manly Beach as they compete for their place on the elite 2023 Championships Tour.
World-class surfers competing at the event include Australia’s very own Owen Wright and Julian Wilson.
This year’s event will also see 36 of the world’s best long boarders compete in the World Longboard Tour – a new addition to the Sydney Surf Pro.
Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the community was excited to host the prestigious world surfing event.
“We are absolutely pumped to host this fantastic surfing event with a stellar line up of the world’s best surfers,” Mayor Regan said.
“Manly has a long proud history of hosting surfing competitions and we are so excited to once again host the Sydney Surf Pro.
“For locals, it’s a chance to see some of the world’s best surfers compete on our very own shores – and it’s a boon to local businesses who will no doubt appreciate the influx of competitors, support staff and spectators to their cafes, restaurants, bars and shops.”
World Surf Pro line-up:
May 13 – Local Trials

In 2023, the Sydney Surf Pro Challenger Series will remain on the Northern Beaches, but will be held at North Narrabeen, home to local surfing legends Simon Anderson, Nathan Hedge, Laura Enever, Terry Fitzgerald, and Damien Hardman to name just a few.
