Northern Beaches Council will proceed to the development application stage for a new surf life saving club building and beach facilities at Long Reef.
At its monthly meeting last Tuesday, Council approved the final concept design for the facilities.
Mayor Michael Regan said the project will deliver an excellent outcome for the surf club and local residents, providing a valuable community asset that will not only support surf lifesaving activities, but also provide the community much improved beach facilities.
“This is a great outcome for everyone involved. The design is low key and hugs the dunes and utilises natural materials where possible to blend in with the surrounding area.
“This project has been some time in the making, has been extensively engaged with the community and I am thrilled it is now moving to the development application stage”.
The development application is expected to be lodged in May this year with construction anticipated to begin in April 2020.
