If you’re a young person in an unsigned local band, the Northern Composure 2018 band competition could be your ticket to stardom.
Applications are now open until Monday 19 February.
Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said Northern Composure, which is the largest and longest-running youth band competition in the area, offers musicians local exposure as well as invaluable stage experience.
“Northern Composure gives our talented local youth a platform to be heard.
“The Northern Beaches has produced some wonderful homegrown talent and we’re thrilled to continue to nurture and support emerging musicians through this competition,” Mayor Regan said.
The winners will take home a prize package worth $7,000 with great prizes also on offer for runners up.
The competition involves three rounds of heats which will be held at locations across the Northern Beaches in March followed by the final on Friday 13 April as part of National Youth Week celebrations.
Since winning Northern Composure 2017, Black Iguana have recorded their first EP and been gigging around Sydney. They’re also booked to play at the upcoming All Ages Band Night at the PCYC in Dee Why.
To qualify for entry, the average age of band members must be 19 or under, with no single member over the age of 24. For more information or to apply, visit northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au and search ‘northern composure now open’ or email youth@northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au
