Northern Beaches Council is moving to Stage 2 of the tender process for District Park lease and development, including for the Warringah Golf Course.
Stage 2 of the tender will invite proposals to consolidate the three key leased areas in District Park - being the Warringah Golf Course, the North Manly Bowling Club and the Warringah Recreation Centre - into the one lease including the construction of a new sports and community building.
Importantly, it will now enable proposals to be submitted for a 10 year minimum lease on the northern half of Warringah Golf Course.
The first stage of the EOI process permitted a lease for a minimum 20 years for District Park, however included a review built in every five years on the northern half of the course to give Council the opportunity to ensure any lease arrangement was still in the best interests of the community.
Following feedback received through the EOI process, Council has now decided to provide flexibility for tenderers to submit proposals that provide for initial terms of either 5 or 10 years on the northern half of the course.
This change will allow more certainty for the leasees and a longer term future for 18 hole golf in this location, while still providing the opportunity for review in the future to ensure the continues to meet the needs of the local community.
