A record breaking 10,000 participants signed up to take part in the annual Sun Run presented by Bioglan from Dee Why to Manly Beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches today - the largest number in the event’s 15-year history.

The annual run saw participants compete in either the 10km or 7km course, taking in the picturesque views of Curl Curl, Freshwater and Queenscliff beaches along the way.

If you blinked, you would have missed the winners who crossed the finish line in a staggering 30:06 minutes for the 10km course and 26:18 for the 7km course.

This year several records were broken, personal bests achieved and over $105,000 was raised for charities across Australia exceeding the $100k goal.

Mayor Sue Heins, who officially started the race, congratulated the winners and praised all the participants.

“It's incredible to see everyone come together for this year’s run, breaking records with the highest number of participants yet!

“This milestone reflects the spirit and enthusiasm that makes the Northern Beaches so special.

“Congratulations to all the winners - you’ve inspired us with your determination and athleticism. And to everyone who joined the run, whether to compete, cheer on a participant, raise money for a good cause or simply have fun, you’ve helped make this event unforgettable.”

This year, Sun Run continued to support local businesses while raising much needed funds for charities including Ovarian Cancer Australia, Breast Cancer Network Australia and the Stroke Foundation.
