Manly Dam mountain bike trail is one of Sydney’s most popular and busiest bike tracks with magnificent views along the way.
No wonder, it attracts so many riders who are keen to traverse the trail every weekend.
To make it a better riding experience, safer and more sustainable, Council is planning a major upgrade of the trail.
Council has allocated $1 million in its 23/24 budget to upgrade the 11km track which is a mixture of single track, shared track and fire trail. The trail is the only authorised mountain bike track through Council bushland.
A trail audit and rider feedback has informed the upgrade works and identified initial priority areas as:
- improvements and minor realignments at the 19th hole
- improvements and minor realignments around Manning St and Bantry Bay Reserve
- safety improvements across the entry of Wakehurst Golf Club
- improvements and minor realignments to the Trig Track.
A community working group has been established to advise on the project – including representatives from Trail Care to represent riders, the local environment group Save Manly Dam Catchment Committee as well as members of the Manly Warringah War Memorial State Park Advisory Committee.
These works are part of a broader strategy providing more and better places to ride and Council is working with the community to deliver on the commitments outlined in the Council’s Open Space and Outdoor Recreation Strategy and Action Plan 2022.
