A new space with youth in mind has been completed at Beverley Job Park in Narraweena this week.
The park is already a hub of activity with an off-leash dog park, sports field and playground, so the addition of a multi-use youth space is set to be well utilised by the community.
In 2023, Council consulted with over 400 local youths about the facilities at this location and feedback received indicated a strong desire for a basketball court to be installed. Broader engagement with the community also supported this option.
The new site has linking pathways through the reserve, a basketball court, extra hard surface around the court for handball and new bench seats.
Twelve months later this vision has become reality thanks to Council and a $121,000 grant from the NSW Government Crown Reserves Improvement Fund plus a $70,000 grant from the NSW Government Local Small Commitments Allocation – Playground and Parks Program and the remaining $199,000 contributed by Council.
Construction took 5 months and this week it was officially opened by the Mayor Sue Heins and Member for Warringah Michael Regan.
