Forestville’s most loved playground has just undergone a major renovation. Known as ‘Poppy Park’, the playground is located in the Forestville War Memorial Playing Fields Precinct.
Affectionately named after the red poppy that is the commemorative flower of remembrance, the Park, like the precinct as a whole, is a reminder of those who lost their lives or suffered in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
Pack a snack as the kids won’t want to leave the space as its filled with so many play options to choose from including two slides – an enclosed spiral tube and straight slide, swings, spring rocker, musical pipes and balancing play elements.
Little ones won’t be left out with a toddler play structure and double slide, climbing wall, high backed and standard swing all within a native garden setting which is complimented by existing sculptures in the park.
Everyone can experience a fun day out with the park catering for children of all abilities and carers are also thoughtfully catered for with picnic tables, bench seats and water drinking fountain all within the grounds.
This playground forms part of the recreation precinct that includes multiple sports fields, courts, skate park, dog park and a recently opened outdoor fitness area.
The upgrade was partially funded by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry & Environment's (DPIE) Everyone Can Play grant program which supports the creation of inclusive public open spaces for adventure and play.
What are you waiting for? It’s play time!
