Work started on the $1 million Marine Rescue building in Bayview this week, providing a new home for this vital community service.
Until now, Marine Rescue Broken Bay had been operating out of a 20 year old repurposed Council demountable which was in much need of replacement.
The new single level building will be built in the same location but slighter larger, providing more space and better facilities to help service the increasing number of boats on the Pittwater.
This project received strong community support when the concept plans were exhibited early last year with many respondents commenting on the great service provided by Marine Rescue NSW.
Marine Rescue Broken Bay will be operating out of a temporary base at Roland Reserve until the new building is complete.
This project is proudly funded by Council, with support from Marine Rescue NSW and the NSW Government.
Works are expected to be complete in five months, weather permitting. Finished right in time for the busy summer period!
