The area referred to as the 'deferred lands'.

Wednesday, 2 November 2022

We’ve recently completed a series of technical studies that map important environmental features of our area. These studies inform our Conservation Zone Review and will provide a basis for controls for building and development in our new Local Environmental Plan (LEP).

The studies are detailed and technical so if you only have a few minutes to explore, we suggest you visit the individual page for the study you are interested in and explore the FAQ.

Learn about the studies currently on exhibition

  1. Watercourse, Wetlands and Riparian Lands Study
Reviews the existing controls relating to watercourses, wetlands and riparian lands and identifies new riparian and wetland buffers.
  2. Stormwater Management Study
Categorises every catchment in the area to help identify catchments requiring stronger stormwater quantity reduction and increased quality targets.
  3. Biodiversity Planning Review
Identifies and maps large patches of intact bushland as core habitat areas which are linked by smaller more fragmented areas of bushland and tree canopy forming biodiversity corridors.
  4. Geotechnical Review
Reviews the existing geotechnical controls and identifies several Geotechnical Planning Classes.
  5. North and Middle Harbour Estuarine Planning Levels Study
Defines the estuarine inundation (also referred to as coastal inundation) risk during extreme but rare storm events, for affected properties in Manly, Fairlight, Balgowlah Heights, Clontarf, Seaforth and Killarney Heights.
  6. Biodiversity Assessment (Deferred Lands)
Describes and maps biodiversity of the predominantly undeveloped area of land located on each side of Wakehurst Parkway (north) and Forestway, bounded by the suburbs of Cromer, Narraweena, Beacon Hill, Oxford Falls, Frenchs Forest and Belrose.
  1. Strategic Bushfire Risk Assessment (Deferred Lands)
Studies the risks associated with bushfire in the “deferred lands” in Oxford Falls Valley and Belrose North.

The Conservation Zone Review and all technical studies are on public exhibition until Friday 2 December.
