In recognition of returning 40 Stuart Street, Manly to the community and the site’s historical significance, the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council held a smoking ceremony.
The 370m² of land is a recognised sacred burial site, rich in First Nations heritage. The area will now be incorporated into the popular Little Manly Beach Reserve.
The land will be transformed to parkland with lawn and native foliage. It will be sprinkled with strategically placed seating and picnic shelter enabling the community to gain the best advantage of the stunning views and enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of this harbourside sanctuary.
In line with Council’s circular waste standards, where able, the material from the demolition was recycled.
The landscaping works are expected to be completed by late September 2024.
