Have you ever let someone merge in front of you and received a wave as a ‘thank you’?

To help inspire more courteous behaviour and provide a refresher on road rules to reduce the road toll, a unique retro-themed calendar has been developed with each month featuring images and messages relating to timeless road safety messages.

While the nostalgic images show how far we’ve come in addressing road safety, the calendar conveys a serious message.

This year’s theme will transport residents back in time to show how road safety behaviours, technology and laws have dramatically improved and changed in the last century.

Accompanying the monthly historical image is a road safety message together with several valuable hints that can help reduce risks such as always remembering to wear protective clothing when riding a motorcycle to pedestrian awareness, driving to the weather conditions and much more.

First produced in 2001, the annual Road Safety Calendar is aimed at educating and encouraging positive behaviour for all road users, across all ages on NSW roads.

The project is a collaboration between six Sydney Councils – Northern Beaches, Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai, Lane Cove, North Sydney and City of Ryde.
