Charging your electric vehicle has become even easier thanks to new EV chargers being installed on 7 local power poles.
It’s all part of an Australian-first trial, funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and installed by Intellihub.
Installing EV charges on street side power poles makes charging easier and more accessible for people living in apartments, townhouses or units with no onsite EV charging options.
The 22 kilowatt chargers have been installed at:
- Yulong Avenue, Terrey Hills
- Allambie Road, Allambie Heights
- Blackbutts Road (opposite Malbara Crescent), Frenchs Forest
- Anzac Avenue, Collaroy
- Ashburner Street, Manly
- West Promenade, Manly
- Dearin Reserve (opposite 13 Kalinya Street), Newport
We received an incredible 429 submissions from the community to help decide the final locations. Thank you to everyone who got involved.
We are one of 8 local councils participating in the Intellihub trial and we are also one of the fastest growing areas for EV ownership.
More than 1,300 EVs have been registered across the Northern Beaches over the past 12-months. There are now more than 3,100 EVs registered across the local government area.
We will continue to work with industry partners to make sure there are enough local charging stations to keep pace with demand.
Well done to everyone who has already made the switch to electric! Together, we can reach our target of a 30% reduction in vehicle emissions by 2038.
