The Eastern Long-necked Turtle, also known as the Eastern Snake-necked Turtle, spends most of its life in freshwater but will move overland in search of new waterholes and nesting areas.

It feeds on aquatic invertebrates, tadpoles and small fish.

It can eject pungent liquid when handled or disturbed.
