This small to medium shrub produces masses of bright red spidery flower heads through winter and spring.

It is ideal for some of the smaller nectar feeding birds such as Eastern Spinebills and New Holland honeyeaters. Red Spider Flower prefers moister areas of dry sclerophyll forest or heath with sandy soils on sandstone.
