Book now for a creative art program this school holidays at Curl Curl Creative Space exploring sustainability and the environment. Suitable for kids aged 7 -12.
The program is run by Reshaping Waste, a local Northern Beaches business whose mission is to turn plastic waste into functional items, whilst empowering a community of change makers.
Program
Day 1: Tues 22 April, 10am – 3pm:
- Greendale Creeks site walk and clean up (adjacent to Curl Curl Creative Space)
- Litter Data Session
- Lunch break
- Get inspired by the morning walk and create an artwork using found objects / recycled materials.
Day 2: Wed 23 April, 10am – 3pm:
- Soft plastic upcycling to create carry bags or a wallet.
- Lunch break
- Textile upcycling to create wearable pouches for Wires: Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organisation
- Textile outcome: clothing, bag, etc
Day 3: Thu 24 April, 10am – 3pm:
- Sort, shred and process hard plastics by type and colour
- Lunch break
- Learn how to make a range of items from pens, carabiner key rings, pockets combs and more.
- Pitchfest: learn about how to tackle plastic waste, work in groups to brainstorm a solution to fight impacts of plastic waste on the environment, pitch your ideas to a judge panel.

- All materials, resources and templates provided by the Reshaping Waste team
- Staffed by the Reshaping Waste team guiding students through the activities
- Safety equipment i.e., googles, gloves etc. provided by the Reshaping Waste Team

- Enclosed footwear suitable for outdoor activity
- Sun safe clothing + hat
- Sunscreen for outdoor activity
- BYO Lunch and snacks, lunch is not provided for students.
