Researchers from the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development are running a free online program for older adults to learn the piano. Participants must have less than two years of prior music training. Those with no musical training are very welcome to the study. Sessions will take place twice a week, 30 minutes each session and will be held in groups over four or eight weeks.
As this is a research study to test how far memory, functioning and quality of life improve through music learning, participants will be asked to complete some online assessments pre and post the online program.
Anita Connell, PhD student and music therapist at Tuned In Music Therapy will facilitate the program. Online sessions will be held over zoom and full support is provided to ensure you can access the platform.
