Join us at a special event for emerging and early-career curators as part of Art Up Late during Sydney Festival 2025. This evening offers a rare opportunity to discuss curatorial practices and hear from MAG&M’s curators about their approach to programming.
Engage in a casual gathering with peers, satisfy curiosities in an Ask Me Anything session, and reflect on the state of contemporary curating. Don't miss this chance to connect with fellow curators in a harbour-side setting.
Enjoy refreshments with a glass from our wine sponsor, Little Ripples.

Daniel Press
Sculptor / Curator
Daniel was the 2024 recipient of the Northern Beaches Emerging Curator Program.
In his sculptural practice, Daniel uses the copying potential of digital fabrication and lost-wax casting processes to destabilise the tradition of monument making. His unstable monuments ghost the residues of colonial powers in public spaces and the authorities that govern and preserve them.
His curatorial practice uncovers emerging trends in Australian contemporary art. Press is a co-founder and board member of DRAW Space Gallery. He also co-founded the cross-university HDR studio crit program.
Art Up Late Series
Drop in to enjoy a welcome drink and walking conversation through The Water Understands exhibition at Manly Art Gallery & Museum, supported by Sydney Festival.
Exhibition: The Water Understands
This event is on during The Water Understands exhibition, a contemporary interrogation of water as a life-giving element, whose importance to humanity has been examined from multiple angles for thousands of years. Artists make work about it, scientists experiment with it, and poets write about it.
