Organic and elegant, we love to live with Mid-Century Modern design. Join three creatives as they talk about their favourite MCM objects at this special event. Artist Paul Davies, artist/curator/designer Liane Rossler and architect Penelope Seidler AM share their thoughts on contemporary approaches to living with Mid-century Modern.

This event is part of Lost in Palm Springs, an interdisciplinary exhibition bringing together 14 creative minds – including internationally recognised artists, photographers and thinkers from America and Australia – who respond to, capture, or reimagine the magical qualities of the landscape and the celebrated mid-century modern architecture found in the desert city.

Paul Davies is an Australian-born, Los Angeles - based artist whose work is driven by friction between opposing forces of built and natural environments, design and art, abstraction and figuration. These boundaries and relationships are illustrated through Davies' process, which combines painting, stenciling, photography and sculpture. In this era of surveillance, Davies repeats and collages facades of modern architecture, the neutrality of which blurs what is revealed and concealed.

Liane Rossler is an artist, designer and curator who has worked in creative industries for over thirty years, and has spent the last fifteen years focused on projects that intersect art, design and the environment. Alongside her solo creative practices, she is founder of Superlocalstudio, which inspires collaborative, socially engaged cultural and creative projects for diverse audiences. Liane was co-founder, former designer and director of Dinosaur Designs for twenty five years.

Penelope Seidler AM is an architect and director of Harry Seidler & Associates. In conjunction with her late husband, Penelope has won several awards for architecture including the Wilkinson Award for their own house in Killara, which is now listed on the NSW Heritage Register. In 2001 Penelope was awarded a Centenary Medal for service to Australian society in business leadership and in 2008 she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for service to the preservation of cultural heritage.
