Friday, 8 March 2024 - 07:00 am to 09:00 am

International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

The 2024 theme for International Women's Day is #InspireInclusion. The theme is set by the international body of the event.

Northern Beaches Council will be hosting a breakfast on International Women's Day at the Manly Pacific where you are invited to join us for a delicious breakfast with a guest speaker, a special event raffle and networking opportunities.

Chloe Dalton

Guest Speaker

This year’s guest speaker is Chloe Dalton - multi-sport athlete, Olympic Gold Medalist, current AFLW player, Founder of the [Female] Athlete Project, and newly-founded author.

Chloe Dalton is one of Australia's few triple sport elite athletes. After playing basketball in the WNBL with the Sydney Uni Flames, Chloe transitioned to Rugby, where she debuted for the Australian Rugby 7s team in 2014.

At the Rio 2016 Olympics, Dalton won Gold with the Australian 7s team and was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for Service to Sport. She was also recognised as Australia's top Rugby 7s player in 2017, winning the Shawn Mackay Medal.

Chloe then crossed codes again to Aussie Rules, making her debut in 2019 for Carlton in the AFLW. She was recently named Runner-Up in the Carlton Best and Fairest Awards for the 2020 AFLW season. Chloe currently plays AFLW for the GWS Giants.

As well as being an elite athlete, Chloe created a platform to recognise and celebrate the stories and achievements of female athletes, in an attempt to address the gender inequalities that exist within the sports media space. The [Female] Athlete Project is now the fastest growing women's platform in the country, with 123k followers on Instagram.

Recently, Chloe released two new books launching her into the 'Author' category:

  • Girls Don't Play Sport - the game-changing, defiant rise of women's sport, and why it matters
  •  A-Z of Who I Could Be - 26 athletes that every little kid [and big adult] should know

Growing up on the Northern Beaches and still remaining local, we are excited to have Chloe speak at this year's International Women's Day Breakfast event.
