Manly Jazz returns to the Gallery with a fierce double act featuring Monica Trapaga and The Cavaliers, and percussionist Adem Yilmaz.
Elegant and timeless, Monica Trapaga and The Cavaliers will swing the night away. This Sydney jazz band, accompanied by the ‘Queen of Vibe’ herself, showcases remarkable chemistry and a deep appreciation for the great standards of a bygone era.
If you love the classic vintage sounds of swing standards with a mellow tone, peppered with dynamite rhythms, jump jazz, and some hip-shakin’ barrelhouse boogie and blues, this buzzin' hour will have you jumping in your seats. With over 30 years in the jazz scene, performing with her bands Monica and the Moochers, The Bachelor Pad and most recently with The Guardians of Groove that went all the way to the Havana Jazz festival in Cuba, Monica returns to her roots with the Cavaliers for a night of fantastic fun.
While Adem Yilmaz’s ‘magical eastern percussion textures’ will reverberate through the gallery in what is set to be an enthralling and invigorating performance.
Adem Yilmaz, a renowned and versatile percussionist of Kurdish origin, specialises in a range of eastern percussion instruments including djembe - cajon - frame drum - darbuka - bongo - cymbals & shakers.
