Whether you’re into quick shopping trips, or you’d like to take your time eating somewhere nice, there are a number of options for your car no matter how long you need.
Northern Beaches has a variety of street, multi-story and business centre carparks throughout the area.
Street parking
On street parking, with and without meters, is available throughout Northern Beaches, ranging from 1 hour to 4 hour parking on weekends and rangers monitor vehicles to ensure spaces are turned over.
For the safety of the community, rangers also monitor and may enforce other Roads and Maritime parking road rules and pedestrian crossing rules. You can report an illegal parking issue.
Council carparks
You can enjoy free parking in most Council carparks that are not signed pay and display. Disabled parking is available in all Council carparks. Please always check signage for the allowable time limit and any other restrictions.
Boat trailer parking
The Northern Beaches is a great location for boating enthusiasts, please park your trailer legally while also having consideration to the neighbours in our residential streets. In 2016 the former Pittwater Council participated in the Office of Local Government's boat and trailer parking pilot program.
In November 2022 the boat trailer parking legislation under the provisions of the Impounding Act 1993 ceased, due to the Act being repealed. It has been replaced with the Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act 2021 which now incorporates all trailers being left parked on a public road unattended, and covers all of the Northern Beaches Local Government Area.
Car camping
It is not an offence to stay in a vehicle overnight as long as it is parked legally and there are not prohibiting signs at the location. You can report an illegal parking issue.
If you wish to report car camping in any public place please refer the matter to NSW Police on 13 14 44.
