Our first-ever Net Zero Expo, a free event to help residents and local businesses get ideas and inspiration to reduce emissions, was a great success!

In spite of the adverse weather forecast (with 30 knot winds and 40+mm of rain expected), the event on 2 June 2024 went ahead although was scaled back for safety reasons. On the day, however, we were very lucky with some dry weather for the approx 1000 residents who had registered to come along.  Please note the Bags to Riches second hand market has been rescheduled to 30 June (click here for info) – please come along!  And we hope to reschedule the outdoor EV, electric road scooter and e-bike test drives in the future.

The Net Zero themed hubs were buzzing with conversations between stallholders and guests, with an impressive array of information stalls for visitors to talk to experts and hear about initiatives across all things energy, waste reduction and biodiversity. The main stage was busy all day with expert panelists discussing the hot button net zero topics of solar, electrification and energy efficiency, green transport and the circular economy. It was a true community collaboration, with thousands of conversations across the day about how we can all reduce our emissions and reduce the impacts of climate change. There were also lucky door prizes for those who registered and attended.

We have ambitious plans to host similar events in the future. To ensure we deliver what you want, we're inviting your feedback.  If you did not receive the post-event survey via email, please click here to provide your thoughts on the Net Zero Event.

The Northern Beaches produces approximately two million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year; our emission-intensive lifestyles are contributing to changing global temperatures and impacting our unique local environment.  So this Net Zero Expo was about helping you discover what to do to reduce your emissions; collective change can make a difference.
