NSW State Government:
Household Energy Saving Upgrades
Helping you to lower the cost of your energy bills. Unlike a rebate which is paid to you, these incentives are an upfront discount that installers offering these incentives will include in their quote. Only installers partnered with an Accredited Certificate Provider (ACP) can provide these discounts to you. Find out more
There are incentives available for:
- Battery installation - lower the cost of your new battery purchase; you can access a discount on installing a battery in your home or small business with an existing solar system, or have the discount priced into a quote for a combined solar system and battery installation
- Battery sign up to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) - sell your excess stored energy to the grid; you can receive an incentive by signing your battery up to a demand response contract (VPP) which allows you to sell some of the excess stored energy in your battery when other people on the grid need it most; this incentive will help reduce electricity demand during peak periods, and the risk of power outages in NSW
- Air conditioner - lower the cost of heating and cooling your home; install a new energy-efficient air conditioner or replace your old one with a more efficient model
- Hot water system - lower the cost of running hot water; you can access discounts to lower the cost of switching to a new energy-efficient solar or heat pump hot water system

Federal Government:
Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme
Part of the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme, the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme is an Australian Government initiative that encourages investment in small-scale renewable energy. Administered by the Clean Energy Regulator, the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme creates a financial incentive for homeowners and small businesses to install eligible small-scale renewable energy systems such as solar panel systems, solar water heaters and air source heat pumps.
Household Energy Upgrades Fund
Administered by Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFE), the Household Energy Upgrades Fund is a specialist $1billion fund focused on helping homeowners transition to cleaner energy, including energy generation and storage (solar PV systems and batteries, solar hot water systems), heating and cooling (double-glazed windows, insulation, air-conditioners, ceiling fans and heat pumps), plus EV chargers, home energy monitoring systems, pool pumps and induction cooktops:
GreenPower
GreenPower is renewable energy made easy. Buying GreenPower means more renewable electricity on the grid and less emissions from electricity use for you. You can opt for GreenPower through your electricity retailer.
GreenPower assesses renewable energy generators, like solar or wind farms, against stringent environmental standards. If a generator receives accreditation, it can create renewable energy certificates with the GreenPower tick. Electricity retailers and certificate traders can then offer GreenPower products to their customers.
