Northern Beaches Library Service has been awarded the 2024 Multicultural Excellence Award by the NSW Public Library Association for Tibetan Story Time Program.

Following the success of launching Australia’s first Tibetan collection in a public library in 2023, Library staff worked collaboratively with local Tibetan community groups to develop a community co-designed early literacy program.

Held entirely in Tibetan, the program celebrates Tibetan language and culture and supports social inclusion and connection within our community.

Since its launch in May 2024, the fortnightly program has attracted 279 participants with an average of 23 children and parents attending each session.
